05/14/2009 commentary

Lots of good pitching matchups going on right now:
Billingsley/Hamels
Verlander/Baker
Josh Johnson/other
King Felix/other
other ex-Cub/Dempster

First 4 pitchers listed have allowed less than one runner per inning through 4. And Verlander with 9Ks, but already at 67 pitches. So no CG for him today.

EDIT 1:48PM
Since Kei has upped the ante on these commentary posts by adding pictures, here's one:

  3. verlander is on fire now w/ 11Ks though he's got mauer morneau and evil-looking KUBEL up next

LORD MIGGY figured baker out, you got 3 Ks 2 from lord miggy swinging through wildly

all these tiger busters busting out in that game!!!

  4. haha yes!!! i was so confused when i saw the padres pitcher, i thought dempster was taken out in the first inning

  5. hopefully verlander arm stiffens up while watching tigers offense explode

  6. That photo is amazing. Coincidentally, I was just comparing pictures of Kerry Wood (DROPPED) and Ryan Franklin (ADDED) and fretting about the overall eye-pleasingness of my team, but I think they're about equal. If nothing else, Franklin is a slight upgrade. I'll post photos tonight after the games are over, so as to not distract from the action.

CASEY BLAKE 2/2. His breakout year....

a bit late, but this headline pleases me
Verlander to Indians: WE MEET AGAINblake has been swinging a hot bat lately

also magic wandy has a 3 run lead before taking the mound for mordo
if he gets a solid start today then hes the real deal this year
historically a bad road pitcher and jimenez is the only pitcher who does well in the mountains

  9. ok screw it
it looked good in the preview

  10. kei-

i may have to add them to my watch list

  11. Matt Kemp triple. Matt Kemmmmmmmp!

  12. The Dodgers need to get a photo of X. Paul.

    Dodgers on a roll!

  13. Man Mountain almost blew it. Whew.

When Papi finally gets a HR, this blog is going to go nuts.

  14. wow he hadnt given up a run in more than a month

it seems like every time i nap during a dodgers game matt kemp triples or hits a home run
i need to start rearranging my sleep schedule around dodgers start times

actually now that im awake i fully expect kemp to ground out

  15. Matt Kemp double. MATTTT KEMMMMP! I love him.

  16. The Dodgers have my favorite Stat Tracker mugshots. Loney looks confused, Kemp is smirking and Manny's isn't even a mugshot (like he forgot to show up on team picture day). And, of course, Casey Blake looks like the Platonic ideal of "Rad Midwestern Dad."

  17. I know. I bet he looks so sad.

  18. ugh
ortiz left 11 men on base
    more than entire angels team

  19. Wow, Indians crushing the Rays. Who would've thought?

Look at Asdrubal Cabrera...4/5! Good pick-up, Mordecai.

  20. I don't know if this link will work in the future, but how about burnt orange dude HIT BY BAT.

  21. The guy behind him is trying so hard not to laugh....

  22. WHERE'S REYES, MY 2ND BEST ARBITUP SLAAAYAARRR?!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hot-boxing the locker room with Carlos Delgao while they prank call Manny Ramirez is my guess. Oof. Rough sit.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Reyes is learning how to fucking WALK THE WALK, not that he's in a slump or anything. There is an element of needing to get over himself, though.

    More importantly, WHERE'S OHMURPH???

    ReplyDelete
  25. There he is, before the game. I swear there's a Getty Images photographer who has a big crush on the Mets.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yes, I've noticed strong Getty Image biases towards or against certain teams and players. Nick Swisher? In 8 billion photos no matter what. Grady Sizemore? Never pictured.

  27. OK I'm very excited about the mets rally in the 9th. Unfortunately arbitup has D Wright so now I am being rocked (4SBs STFU). I believe my emotions are still leaning towards real-life (though it is a game?) interests over virtual/fantastic (tertiary reality?) ones. FROD has a save opp, so that is probably ruining my pretense of rationality.

  28. just noticed that each of the three matchups
with at least one non-robot participant
are 6-5 with saves being tied at 1

looks to be an exciting weekend
    fantasy/reality-wise

  29. Speaking of robots v. machines, I saw a preview for the new Terminator and it looks AWESOME.

    The End Begins.

  30. I meant humans v. machines.

I may have just revealed myself to be a robot.
